From Google Video Search: "router" What is the best router to use for LAN at home? Q. I want to network two computers together. (See my other question "Sharing DSL service?") I want a good quality router that will perform well and give good security without paying an arm and leg. I found a Refurbished CISCO1604-R for $35.00. Is this a good price? Anybody have an opinion on this particular router or on D-Link, Linksys or Cisco routers? Thanks. It's all I personally use for my networking needs. They are easy to set up and maintain. And best of all They generally have 3 year warranty's. On the contrary, I recommend Linksys routers if you want extreem flexability with your router, namily the ability to load linux on it and do other advanced things. For most people the added "features" of the Linksys router is not worth it. The netgear routers are by far easier to setup than the linksys routers. As far as security is concerned, they both work well. Provided you understand the pro's and con's of the encryption and other security methods offered by the product. Hopefully that helps. Q. I've configured the port IP Addresses, set up routes, and still nothing! I can ping a network computer from the router, and I can ping the ISP router from the network router, but I can't ping the ISP router from a network computer. All my firewalls are good. I've used both Windows and Unix machines to try and connect but nothing is working! I'm sure it's something simple! Someone HELP! Asked by Josh - Mon Aug 17 13:27:39 2009 - Computer Networking - 3 Answers - Comments A. When you say that you set up routes, how did you set them up? A static default gateway, I presume? Please post the output of "show ip route", or email me that and the contents of the running-configuration file and I should be able to tell you what's wrong ( ).
